Coaching Update

I have just read that Lionel Hollins is bringing Maurice Cheeks with him as an assistant coach, so Hollins may not end up being the full-time guy after all.  Cheeks was one of the first names to come up in rumors yesterday as a possible replacement for Marc Iavaroni.  Hollins hasn't signed a contract as of yet, so he isn't officially the new head coach.  All I am asking is that Michael Heisley and his front office staff put some consideration into this move.  The Grizzlies are struggling to get fans to come to their games, and they need to make a positive move now to show that they are committed to winning.  I guess I will get off Chris Wallace's back for now, but I still don't trust him not to screw this up somehow.

According to ESPN, Avery Johnson declined an offer from the Grizzlies, which doesn't surprise me much.  The Grizzlies reportedly offered Johnson a five-year deal to leave his analyst position with ESPN.  Assistant Johnny Davis will coach the team tonight against the New York Knicks.
