While that may seem like a high price, the Suns would likely have settled for less had the Grizzlies negotiated at all. However, they simply said, "No, thanks!" and sent the Suns on their way. Phoenix is desperate to slash payroll, so they will take any measures to shed Stoudemire's contract. I don't know if the Grizzlies could have handled the contract themselves, but they could have come to some sort of less expensive agreement.

Hakim Warrick led the Grizzlies in scoring with 21 points off the bench as the team's two stars struggled once again to put the ball in the basket. It's good to see him contributing consistently now after having his difficulties in the early part of the season. Unfortunately, the Grizzlies can't afford to have Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo have coinciding off-nights. If one of them doesn't have his shot, the other has to pick up the slack. Without the offensive leadership of at least one of those guys, the Grizzlies don't stand much of a chance of winning, especially against a team like San Antonio.

Hakim Warrick had a great night for the Grizzlies, scoring 25 points on 7-of-11 shooting, but he was pulled from the game with three minutes left and the Grizzlies within three at 92-89. Why would you do that? He was the hottest shooter the Grizzlies had last night, but coach Marc Iavaroni yanked him to get Quinton Ross into the game, evidently for defensive purposes. This team needs to take offense wherever it can get it right now. I know defense wins games, but this team doesn't have any consistent shooters, so they can't afford to take the ball out of anyone's hands when they are hot.

Hakim Warrick led Memphis with 17 points while Rudy Gay scored 16 and Kyle Lowry added 15. Neither Darko Milicic nor Quinton Ross scored a point.in 38 combined minutes. Marc Gasol managed only five points and four rebounds.

I'm not sure what Hakim Warrick's role is on this team. He was an athletic player at Syracuse and came up with the title-saving block against Kansas a few years ago. Maybe he just isn't strong enough to be effective at this level. There has to be a reason he hasn't been getting playing time, especially on defense. The Grizzlies don't have a whole lot of shot-blocking options on this small roster, so I think it's worth giving him a shot. The defense hasn't been bad this year, but last night he could have made a difference. Offensively, he's pretty quick around the basket. He may not be a 20-10 guy night in and night out, but those numbers aren't out of his reach.
